Hybrid Chargeback
Hybrid Chargeback is a charging model that combines showback and chargeback: some IT services are actually charged on to the recipients, while others are only shown transparently. The model combines cost transparency with targeted financial steering.
Which services fall into which category is decided by criteria such as the measurability and stability of the service units, the quality of consumption data, the desired steering effect and acceptance in the business units. A typical split charges consumption-based services such as cloud resources or workplace services, while base load and central platforms, for example for security, are initially only shown.
The advantage lies in the gradual introduction: resistance decreases because charges are only made where units are reliably measurable. Clear, documented rules per service are a prerequisite. The two basic models are described in the entries Showback and Chargeback.
