Serviceware introduces the Digital Value Model for Technology Business Management at the Gartner® IT Symposium/Xpo™ 2023, Barcelona, Spain

• IT budget savings of up to 10% are possible, in times when CIOs are expected to constantly do more with less.

• The flexible data and cost model, AI-enabled process templates, steering KPIs and reports together with guidance and consulting are what make the Digital Value Model unique.

• Ongoing initiative to make the TBM Council and thus the TBM standard more open.

Gartner IT Symposium/Xpo, Barcelona, Spain Serviceware SE today announced the Digital Value Model, a proven data and cost model to successfully operationalize the Technology Business Management framework.

From the Technology Business Management (TBM) framework, currently governed by the TBM Council, that provides companies with an outline and taxonomy of how to run and steer IT as a business, Serviceware developed the Digital Value Model to enable companies to create business value from every single technology investment, process, resource and asset.

“IT budget savings of up to 10% are possible, in times when CIOs are expected to constantly do more with less. And the TBM taxonomy allows enough transparency to show IT investments by originator, client, sourcing channel or technology reference. However, the overall TBM framework lacks concrete guidelines on how to operationalize the framework to save costs. A concept for adapting to the everchanging business requirements, and for optimizing resources and processes, accordingly, is missing, too” explains Dr. Alexander Becker, COO, Serviceware SE and continues: “With the introduction of the Digital Value Model (DVM) we now close this gap, so that TBM eventually will be to IT Financial Management what the ITIL standard is in IT Service Management.”

The Digital Value Model (DVM) consists of a flexible data and cost model, a variety of steering KPI’s reporting capabilities, AI-enhanced process templates and comes with proven and tailored consulting best practices.

“An approach like DVM is key to our clients who aim for significant IT cost savings of up to 10% - a number TBM promises - but for which the taxonomy alone didn’t have the tools and metrics so far”, adds Sam Wilson Country, Manager Serviceware UK Ltd. “We certainly close a gap here.”

Serviceware SE is stepping up its activities in the industry and calls to reform the TBM Council to be more vendor-neutral and open. Recently, the company sent an open letter to the management of Apptio, an IBM Company, asking them to open the TBM Council to other vendors. #FreeTBM.
