Ransomware Protection
Ransomware Protection is the set of strategies and technologies in IT security for preventing, detecting and containing extortion attacks. Ransomware remains one of the most serious threats to organizations because it can cause outages, data loss and high financial pressure. Effective protection does not begin with encryption, but with the early detection of suspicious behavioral patterns. These include unusual file operations, misuse of legitimate tools or first indications of lateral movement.
Backups, hardening measures, network segmentation and trained employees are equally important. Ransomware protection is thus always an interplay of technology, processes and preparation for an emergency. Organizations should in particular examine how quickly they can detect and isolate attacks and restore operations. The term therefore stands not only for a product feature, but for a comprehensive resilience approach against one of the most relevant cyber threats. Operationally, automated attack detection helps to separate relevant signals from less critical events more quickly.
