Timeline
Serviceware is one of the few German software companies to go public as an owner-managed business. The IPO enabled us to accelerate our European market leadership and expand our international presence. Since April 2018, Serviceware SE has been listed in the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (ticker: SJJ). The two founders, Dirk Martin (CEO) and Harald Popp (CFO), continue to hold more than 60% of the shares.
- 1998: Dirk Martin and Harald Popp found PM Computer Services (PMCS) in Dirk's childhood bedroom —the foundation of what is now Serviceware.
- 2001: PMCS opens its first office in Bad Camberg.
- 2002: Berlin office opens.
- 2003: helpLine (which became Serviceware Processes) is added to the portfolio. Offices open in Hürth and Switzerland.
- 2004: Austria location opens.
- 2006: helpLine becomes the first German software solution to be ITIL certified.
- 2007: Our 100th employee joins the company.
- 2008: 10-year anniversary. “We Live Service” becomes the guiding principle.
- 2011: helpLine becomes available as a SaaS solution.
- 2012: Strategic Service Consulting GmbH is founded in Berlin.
- 2012: MCH+ and Careware (which became Serviceware Resources) is acquired.
- 2014: Catenic AG and its IT financial management solution anafee (which became Serviceware Financial) joins the company.
- 2017: Office opens in Palma de Mallorca.
- 2018: PMCS.helpLine Software Group becomes Serviceware SE. The successful IPO marks a major milestone.
- 2018: Serviceware acquires SABIO (which became Serviceware Knowledge).
- 2019: Serviceware acquires cubus and its corporate planning software outperform (which became Serviceware Performance).
- 2019: Expansion into the United Kingdom.
- 2019: AI Innovation Lab launches in Darmstadt: Serviceware employees as well as representatives of the university will do practice-oriented research on AI.
- 2020: Serviceware acquires Smoope’s chat technology which is the foundation for the chatbot of the Serviceware Platform.
- 2022: Serviceware moves to its new headquarters in Idstein. The street is officially renamed "Serviceware-Kreisel".
- 2023: Serviceware updates its vision to "Serviceware enables people to achieve their ambitions in the service economy - revolutionized by AI".
- 2024: Launch of the AI-native Service Management Platform
- 2024: Serviceware achieves more than €100 million in revenue for the first time
- 2025: Expansion into global markets (including the US, Brazil, and Malaysia)

Dirk Martin
He studied Industrial Engineering at TU Darmstadt before founding PM Computer Services GmbH & Co. KG together with Harald Popp—the company that later became Serviceware SE.
He is also a board member of the association DIE FAMILIENUNTERNEHMER.
Harald Popp
After completing his banking apprenticeship at Deutsche Bank AG in Mannheim, he studied Industrial Engineering at the University of Karlsruhe.
In 1998, he co-founded PM Computer Services GmbH & Co. KG with Dirk Martin and served as Managing Director until 2018. In 2003, he co-founded helpLine CLM AG, in Baar, Switzerland.
