Security Automation
Security Automation is the automated execution of defined security tasks and response steps. The aim is to reduce manual routine work, speed up processing and make processes more consistent. Typical examples are automatic enrichment of alerts, ticket handovers, isolation measures or the triggering of playbooks. The benefit is particularly evident in security teams that work with a high volume of events and scarce staff resources. Automation not only increases speed there, but can also improve the quality of standardized workflows.
It is important, however, to define rules, approvals and exceptions cleanly so that automation does not become an uncontrolled risk; this applies all the more to Agentic AI and Automation, where AI prepares or executes steps itself. Security automation is therefore an operating model and not merely a feature list of a tool. As a result, it helps organizations set up security work in a more scalable and resilient way. Operationally, automated attack detection helps to separate relevant signals from less critical events more quickly.
