Managed SASE
Managed SASE is an operating model in which the introduction, operation and further development of a Secure Access Service Edge environment are taken over in whole or in part by a service provider. The technical platform is usually provided by a SASE vendor, while the service provider is responsible for configuration, monitoring and ongoing adjustment.
Two variants are common: in the fully managed model, the service provider takes over policy maintenance, changes, incident handling and reporting. In co-management, the organization retains certain tasks, such as approving security policies, and shares administration with the service provider. Scope of services and responsibilities are defined in service level agreements, frequently supplemented by monitoring through a security operations center.
The model is chosen above all when network and security expertise is scarce internally or many sites and mobile users have to be supported. Clear responsibilities at the interfaces to the organization's own IT operations, transparency about all changes and defined escalation paths are important. Managed SASE combines the convergence of network and security in Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) with the operating model of Managed Services.
