Identity Lifecycle Management
Identity Lifecycle Management is the management of digital identities across all phases of their lifecycle – from creation through role and permission changes to deactivation. Particularly relevant are the joining, role changes and leaving of employees (joiner-mover-leaver), since access rights must be kept up to date at all times.
In practice, these processes are largely automated: new employees automatically receive access to the applications they need, permissions are adjusted when changes occur, and all access is reliably revoked when someone leaves. The basis is frequently the integration with HR systems and directory services, so that changes are adopted automatically. A structured identity lifecycle reduces security risks, lowers administrative effort and supports compliance with regulatory requirements. It is thus a central component of Identity and Access Management and a foundation of effective Identity Security.
