Enterprise Browser

Enterprise Browser is a web browser that is centrally managed for corporate use and enforces security and access policies directly when web and SaaS applications are used. The browser itself thus becomes the control point for access to corporate data.

Typical functions are context-dependent access controls, rules for copying, pasting, printing, downloading and screenshots, the masking of sensitive data, the logging of sessions and the separation of business from private use. Because the controls take effect in the browser, the approach is also suitable for unmanaged devices of external service providers or for bring your own device, without full device management being necessary. It is implemented as a standalone browser, frequently based on Chromium, or as an extension of managed standard browsers.

The enterprise browser must be distinguished from Browser Isolation: there, web content is executed in a remote, isolated environment and transmitted to the endpoint only as a sanitized rendering, whereas the enterprise browser works locally and controls usage by policy. Both approaches can be combined. The enterprise browser supports Zero Trust for access to web applications and complements Data Loss Prevention with controls at the point of use.
