Digital Risk Protection (DRP)
Digital Risk Protection (DRP) is the set of measures for protecting digital brand, communication and presence surfaces outside the directly controlled corporate environment. These include fake social media accounts, brand abuse, phishing sites and compromised public communication channels.
Typical DRP functions are the monitoring of domain registrations, app stores, social networks and relevant forums up to the dark web, the detection of impersonation and leaked credentials, and organized takedown processes against abusive content. The view is thus consistently directed outward – at those digital touchpoints that customers and partners perceive but that the organization does not operate itself.
DRP must be distinguished from Attack Surface Management, which inventories the organization's own, technically reachable infrastructure; DRP, on the other hand, addresses brand and reputation risks on third-party platforms. In both cases, the methodological basis is Threat Intelligence, which translates observations into assessable, prioritized risks.
