Breach Prevention

Breach Prevention is the set of all measures within IT security that aim to prevent security breaches as early as possible. These include preventive controls as well as rapid detection, hardening and the reduction of unnecessary attack surface. The term is deliberately comprehensive, because successful prevention rarely relies on a single tool.

Rather, identity protection, Endpoint Security, Vulnerability Management, the reduction of exposure through Attack Surface Management, monitoring and security awareness interlock. For organizations, breach prevention is above all a management topic, because technical controls must be coordinated with processes and responsibilities. The better an organization understands which assets, data and access are particularly critical, the more precisely preventive measures can be aligned. Regular tests and reviews, for example through Automated Security Validation, are also part of it in order to uncover blind spots.
