Security Posture

Security Posture is the current security state of an organization across systems, data, processes and user behavior within IT security. The term is deliberately comprehensive, because it includes not only technical controls but also organizational maturity and operational discipline. A strong security posture is reflected, among other things, in good transparency, resilient processes, a reduced attack surface and rapid responsiveness. Conversely, many open vulnerabilities, unclear responsibilities or inadequate monitoring point to a weaker security situation.

For organizations, the continuous assessment of the security posture is important in order to make progress measurable and to prioritize investments in a targeted manner. This applies especially in dynamic cloud and hybrid environments. Security posture is therefore not a static status, but a snapshot that must be reviewed on an ongoing basis. Automated Security Validation can help to continuously test protective measures against realistic attack scenarios. For steering and verifiability, Governance and Security are central points of reference.
