Secure Access

Secure Access is the secure and controlled access to applications, systems and data – regardless of where, with which device and via which network access takes place.

The term stands for an architectural shift: instead of securing access across the board via the network perimeter and VPN tunnels, modern approaches decide on the basis of identity and context. User identity, device state and risk signals determine per request whether and to what extent access is granted. Concepts such as zero trust network access (ZTNA) and SASE implement this principle technically; single sign-on, multi-factor authentication and adaptive policies maintain the balance between security and user-friendliness.

Secure access is relevant above all because of remote work, cloud usage and mobile devices, which dissolve classic network boundaries. Conceptually, the term is closely linked to Zero Trust: trust does not arise from the location in the network, but from continuous verification.
