Resource Towers (TBM)

Resource Towers are the categories of the TBM taxonomy that bundle technology resources into stable areas, such as compute, storage, network, end-user devices, applications or security. They describe what technology costs are used for, regardless of how the organization is currently structured.

In the cost model, the towers sit between the Cost Pools and the services: pool costs are distributed to towers via keys, for example a staff pool by time shares to the platform and security towers, and from there on to services and recipients. Sub-towers refine the view, for example within compute by server and container environments. The benefit: an organization-independent steering and benchmarking view of the technology base that remains stable over years.

The definition, scope and versioning of the towers are part of the TBM Taxonomy; names and scopes may change when versions change.
