Identity Backup
Identity Backup is the backup of identity and access objects that are needed for the login, authorization and administration of digital services. These can include users, groups, roles, policies, application assignments and other configuration elements of an identity platform. The aim is to be able to restore not only payload data but also the identity structures necessary for secure access.
Identity data changes frequently and is closely linked to numerous applications. Faulty automation, accidental deletions or compromised administrator accounts can therefore have far-reaching consequences. An identity backup should capture relationships between objects, permissions and relevant metadata as consistently as possible and be able to restore them granularly.
The approach complements Identity Security and Zero Trust. It is particularly important to protect backup access and recovery processes in such a way that a compromised identity account cannot simultaneously control the backup.
