Identity Automation
Identity Automation is the automation of processes around the management of digital identities. Typical use cases are user creation, permission assignment, role changes and the deactivation of accounts.
The basis is rule-based workflows that react to events from leading systems – such as a new hire in the HR system – and derive actions in target systems from them. User provisioning is the best-known sub-area; identity automation goes beyond it and also includes approval processes, automatic recertification reminders or the revocation of unused permissions. Manual effort and sources of error decrease, and processes become standardized and consistent.
Especially in large organizations with frequent personnel movements, the degree of automation is a decisive factor for security and efficiency – and at the same time a prerequisite for permanently meeting compliance requirements in Identity and Access Management in a verifiable way.
