Bulk Restore
Bulk Restore is the recovery of large amounts of data or many objects in a single bundled operation. Unlike a granular restore, the focus is not on a single element but on an extensive data volume, such as a complete mailbox, numerous user accounts, large folder structures or entire parts of an application – a volume that is restored as a whole rather than object by object.
Bulk restores are typically needed after major misconfigurations, mass deletions, cyber incidents or migrations. Decisive factors are throughput, API limits, prioritization, error handling and the ability to monitor progress traceably. Conflicts with already existing data and the order of dependent objects must also be taken into account.
For resilient Business Continuity Management, a bulk restore should not only be theoretically possible but tested with realistic data volumes. This makes it possible to assess whether recovery objectives can actually be met even in the event of large-scale damage.
