Behind the Scenes: My Eye-Opening Marketing Internship Experience

Written by Serviceware | January 23, 2026

Not every first insight is just theory, sometimes it shows quite concretely how varied and exciting a field of work really is. During my student internship in marketing at Serviceware, I was able to get to know the day-to-day work of a marketing team and actively participate in various tasks. In this experience report, I show why an internship in this area is particularly valuable for career orientation.

Hello Nora! You had the opportunity to do a student internship in our company's marketing team for the last two weeks. How was this experience for you?

Nora: It was a very nice experience. People always say that an internship in a software company is boring, but I was proved wrong. I had two very exciting weeks and everyone was super nice and open to me. Even people who didn't know me at all greeted me nicely and with a friendly smile.

What was your first impression of the marketing team?

Nora: Very impressive. I found it particularly interesting that each team member had very different tasks, even though the marketing team is just one department. They also all knew exactly what they were responsible for.

What do you do as an intern in the marketing team?

Nora: I was able to look into very different areas of the marketing team. From event planning and giveaways, to setting up lighting and cameras, as well as creating my own social media post and writing this blog post. I was also allowed to attend many meetings and was able to experience the daily routine

It seems to have been very varied. What did you like best about your tasks?

Nora: There was no favorite task, the whole thing together made it a very interesting and enjoyable experience. Always doing the same thing would be boring.

That sounds understandable. Now that your internship is over, what do you think you've learned?

Nora: I've learned a lot, not just about the website program, but also about event planning, setting up blog posts, different camera and lighting settings. Above all, I also learned a lot about my future. For example, what my day-to-day work could look like later on.

Would you advise others to do an internship at Serviceware?

Nora: Yes. Although I didn't have that much to do with the other departments, everyone was always nice to me, regardless of the department. I would particularly recommend an internship in the marketing department, as I was immediately welcomed and had lots of different tasks.

That's it from my side with the interview, would you like to say anything else yourself?

Nora: Yes, of course. I wanted to thank all the people who supported me during the two weeks and gave me such a great time. Thanks to you all!
